Easy Rider!.... Very nice that you sent a post about this movie Peeps. That's one of my favourite movies btw, I'd like to know what you really think about it?..

to start with.. I'm a big fan of jack nicholson.. that's the reason for me renting the movie in the first place,
but what i saw was more than that..!
The movie turned out to be a classic and the look & feel of it, reminds me of another classic.. butch cassidy n sundance kid.
It portrays, the lives of ppl (the so called hippies)who are
not just addicted to drugs,
but also a different set of people( the others) who are addicted to customs,to narrow minded insights,
viewing.. doing drugs as a sin, and ppl who do them as outcasts..!
i think it was the first time on screen, that a movie had a full lenght subject on drugs, ( next came the cheek n chong sequels )..
and very uniquely it didn't portray drug addicts as wierdos ( though they show a racket that lives in the outskirts of the grand canyon )...
The main characters.. Peter Fondaand Dennis Hopper.. were brillinat in portraying the roles of two easy going.. youths.. who end up dead
after a sequence of incidents that bring out the hatredness widespread in the country towards, drugs..!
fear and loathing in lasvegas, comes close to this... but, doesn't quite put forth the message.. as strongly as easy rider does..!
which is in my view,
It's not the drug that is the sickness.. It's the pre-conceptions and lack of awareness that puts you in to the vicios circle..and times are yet to change..!

Easy Rider was a cult hit and made Jack Nicholson famous. Not many people know actually but in 1967 (earlier than Easy Rider), same team (Nicholson, Hopper and Fonda) made another drug related movie called "The Trip" directed by maestro Roger Corman. Jack Nicholson didn't play but he had written the scenario. That movie was forbidden for quite some time..
And Easy Rider.. It's not only a drug trip movie about some hippies. Because it is a cult movie many people give different meanings to it but, indeed it reveals some important subjects.
Maybe I should write a post about Easy Rider.
Btw, while they were making the movie they were 'really' stoned for the most of the times. Many important scenes in the movie were shot when they were high. One of them is that scene when Jack Nicholson talks about alien civilisations.
